Fall Mentoring Conference 2016

Fall Mentoring Conference

The Iowa Mentoring Partnership (IMP) presented its annual Fall Mentoring Conference in West Des Moines in early October. Over 70 staff members from IMP certified programs from across the state heard from experts in the field such as Jim Conway from the Search Institute and Kristin Howard from MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership. Howard and Conway both discussed relationships specific to mentoring: Conway, on developmental relationships with youth, and Howard, on donor relationships. Attendees also attended sessions on logic models, adverse childhood experiences, and self-care. The IMP provided monthly advocacy and marketing toolkits to programs to facilitate their awareness campaigns.

Attendees enjoyed building knowledge, networking, and reenergizing. One participant summed up the day well: “I enjoyed that the conference reminded me of what matters, why I do my job and why I care about kids. It really refreshed and inspired me to keep going. Thanks for that!”
