Program Certification

As the certifying body for mentoring programs in our state, the Iowa Mentoring Partnership strives to expand the network of quality mentoring programs that help build brighter futures for children and youth. If you are operating a mentoring program for children and youth in Iowa, we strongly encourage you to join the network of certified mentoring programs. There are no costs associated with program certification.

Certification with the IMP provides support to youth mentoring programs across the state and affiliation with the network of quality programs.

The IMP is utilizing a process for certification through the National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS), based on the Elements of Effective Practice For Mentoring. The NQMS is a process for programs to evaluate their own practices and engage in a plan for continuous improvement. This online system includes a 92 question self-assessment for programs to review strengths and areas of improvement. The system provides improved record keeping as well as a systematic means for the IMP to provide targeted support for programs.
